Bali Blue Moon has been a well-known “secret” among specialty roasters. It is a coffee growing region that has been heavily regulated by government, which may seem like a bad thing, but it means that both the quality of the stock used, the handling, and processing are excellent. All of the coffee grown in Bali is organic, because pesticides and insecticides and chemical fertilizers are strictly forbidden on the island.
So what does all this give you?
A coffee that is smooth and somewhat syrupy in the mouth. It has an anise flavor which adds spice to the dark chocolate and vanilla bean flavors. It is a tad sweet and very complex. All of this means that it has gone beyond previous comparisons with Kona. It has a wonderful sensation that may vary a little with different roasts to include citrus notes, since these trees are often shaded with orange and tangerine trees.
From the main coffee growing region of the Asia Pacific. Bali Blue Moon gets its name from the mother Varietal originally grown on the infamous Jamaican Blue Mountain and transplanted to the colorful Indonesian Island paradise of Bali where the rich volcanic soils impart a distinct and unique flavor to your cup.
A cousin to Sumatra or Sulawesi coffee; Blue Moon always is a bit smoother without as much earthiness. Best for pourover, aeropress or Keurig. Excellent as a cold brew or iced coffee.
