Progress on the coffee bar continues, slowly but surely. With a month’s gap in the updates here on the blog, there are a lot of new details! Nancy has painted the outside with a double coat of Kilz, which will be the undercoat for the final paint job. It’s nice to be rid of the old paint while we’re deciding on final colors and design.

The previous update had to do with the ceiling, which we’re happy to report is nearly finished!

It took a bit of finagling to get everything to sit properly. We placed full size panels in the middle of the ceiling and then cut smaller ones to fit between the mid panel and the wall. Very finicky work and it’s still not the prettiest job you’ll ever see, but caulk and spackle cover a multitude of sins. With a bit of trim to cover the seam at the wall and the seams between panels, it’s coming together really nicely. Soon we’ll be ready for lights!

As you can see in this photo, we’ve also installed the subflooring. To be honest, it looks so good that it’s tempting to keep it that way! But we’ll need a sealed surface which can be cleaned easily, so we’re opting for some kind of laminate or vinyl flooring, probably after the cabinets go in.
The back wall design has been through a few iterations, like being curved along the line of the front of the trailer. To make our building a little easier (though a little less visually satisfactory) it was settled to make it a straight wall. It’ll be quick to put up, but getting Steve and Nancy together to get it done hasn’t happened yet.
We’ve purchased new lift arms to install on the window, which will make a bit easier to go up and down. Next steps are painting the ceiling, installing the back wall, and then, cabinets!
