This first annual Christmas market was a great success, and I hope you were there!
Over 20 farmers and makers gathered in the basement and main floor of the Mantua Grain building from 5-8pm for the cheeriest social event of the season. There was a lot of variety, from honey to candles, pickles to farm raised meats and eggs, roasted coffee, tshirts, nails, holiday signs, Tupperware, geodes, wooden items, poinsettias, butters and holiday cookies. Oh, and a raffle to support Kids’ Weekend Meals,
Outside it was cold and snowing, a perfect December evening. Didn’t stop anyone, though, many enjoyed the wine tastings at Jake’s Eats and R44 Coffee, and the Crestwood Bands Annual Cookie Walk at R44 coffee too! Our local businesses were nicely decorated, and open late for everyone. There was even a gift wrapping station to benefit Portage APL and 4 C’s Food Cupboard. The highlight of the night were free horse-drawn carriage rides through the village, and a grand prize raffle at Crooked River. The Crestwood Choir caroled through the evening – they were fantastic!
This was an event not to miss. Mark your calendars for December 2023…!
